Blog Charts connecting Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
We completed several nice examples of Software Chips for Flash and JavaScript widgets. Magic Quadrant is the only JavaScript widget in our collection. The other are based on Flash and JavaScript. Below is a list in Components/Charts folder as you can see it on the Datamash website.

These Chips enable direct connections between Microsoft Excel cells and our widgets, as shown in the picture below:

On the Datamash website this architecture looks like a connection between 2 Chips:
1) Activate Datamash Software Chip for your Microsoft Excel file by activatin cells and
2) Get the Chip of your chart widget:

Notice that the red small square in the right corner of Microsoft Excel Chip has to be connected with green square on the left corner of the Chart Chip.
These squares are Connectors for data. Red is for output, green is for input.
To use these Chips, you must install the Datamash plugin for Micorsoft Excel. There are several links to download this plugin on the Datamash website. For example, here:Â Download Datamash plugin for Excel.
After installation of the plugin you will have additional buttons on your Excel toolbar:

User should select cells like this:

Push the button for activating cells and the first user defined Software Chip is created. The name of this Chip will be the same as for source Excel file. However, user might rename it later.
Right now you gets the Chip with the name I made up – “Dynamic spreadsheet 46″.
Now drag the red square output of “Dynamic spreadsheet 46″ to the green square input of “Flash chart (pie) 1″ Chip.
They are connected.
The final step is to publish the widget. Let’s suppose you want to put this Chip in your Blog. It is really easy. Just push the cubicle button on the Flash Chart Chip. You will see a working and connected sample of your widget below. Copy HTML script from the field on the right side and put it in your blog.

Check it – change activated cells in your spreadsheet – you will see changes in your blog chart.
